One of the most ambitious projects in this area was the commissioning of the world's largest gas field Galkynysh, the reserves of which, together with the Yashlar and Garakol fields, are estimated at almost 27 trillion cubic meters.
After the discovery of this giant storehouse of hydrocarbons, Turkmenistan confidently takes the fourth place in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.

The company engages in geologic exploration and development of oil and gas fields. The sound resource base ensures the stability of production activities and achievement of targeted volumes of hydrocarbon production.

As part of the first stage of the industrial development of Galkynysh, there were built 22 wells and two gas processing complexes with a total capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year. They include units for primary treatment of hydrocarbon feedstock, gas purification and dehydration, stabilization of hydrocarbon condensate, as well as units for granulating and packing sulfur, equipped with modern machinery. A large amount of work was carried out on the construction of engineering and communication networks, a gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 75 MW, water, gas and energy supply systems, and access roads.

Among the relevant tasks for the near future, along with the diversification of energy supplies to world markets, is increasing the production of natural gas and oil, strengthening the industry’s raw material base through the search and exploration of new hydrocarbon deposits, and intensification of drilling and overhaul of hydrocarbon wells. The attraction of specialized foreign companies and their investments for the operations mentioned above is considered as well.

Galkynysh Gas Field regularly upgrades its production facilities. The Refineries of which the company works implements an innovation strategy of phased improvement of process flow diagram aimed at further enhancement of petroleum products quality, operating expenditures reduction and industrial and environmental safety improvement.

The Galkynysh field serves as one of the raw materials sources of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, in which the idea of rebuilding the Great Silk Road for millennia has connected the peoples of Eurasia, has been embodied. This energy main is one of the most ambitious engineering structures of the 21st century. In the practice of international relations, this project has also become a unique precedent of goodwill, constructive and fruitful interstate partnership.

In the upstream sector, the Company is committed to ensuring production volumes which allows it to maintain a balance between economic efficiency and rational use of mineral resources. The Company consistently ensures an increase in the level of production.
